Every job starts with a free on-site consultation. Jarod walks the property with you, asking how you use the yard, which doors and paths matter after dark, and where the trouble spots are. Everything in the design traces back to that conversation.
Next, we create a detailed layout plan for your property, showing where each light is located, which way it aims, and what the scope covers. Architectural-grade plans are also available for projects that call for it. Nothing is ordered until you approve it.
The final step is carefully positioning and fine-tuning each fixture. Every light is adjusted during the installation to achieve the right balance, highlighting the intended features while minimizing glare and unwanted light spill. We take the time to make these final adjustments so the system looks its best before the installation is complete.

Proper illumination improves visibility along walkways, steps, driveways, and other high-traffic areas, helping to identify changes in grade, ice, and other potential hazards. Adding Sound to the Same Trench as Your Lighting Systems
Many of our clients add outdoor sound at the same time as their outdoor lighting installation. Since both need a trench and low-voltage cable, doing them together saves time, energy, and cost.
Blue Hour Lighting is a Sonance authorized dealer and installer. Satellite speakers hide in the planting beds, subwoofers are buried in the lawn, and sound fills the yard at conversation level. Opening the ground only once costs far less, so if sound is anywhere in your plans, you’ll want to work it in at the start.
Sonance and your lighting system each run through their own app, but both connect into whole-home platforms like Control4, Savant, or Crestron and consumer platforms like Google Home, Apple Home, and Alexa. From there, a single scene can dim the lights and start the music at the same time.
What Drives the Cost of Landscape Lighting?
Every property has its own scope of work, shaped by what the homeowner wants, what the property needs, and how it’s laid out. That’s why the same fixture can cost very different amounts to install, depending on how far the wire has to run and what’s already in the ground.

Each independently controlled area increases both power demand and equipment needs, increasing the cost of the project.

Westchester, NY, Landscape Lighting Maintenance & Repair
During each maintenance visit, we inspect and fine-tune the entire system. This includes repositioning fixtures as landscaping grows, cleaning lenses, replacing failed lamps, repairing damaged wiring, resetting timers and controls, and making adjustments as the landscape evolves. We also check the transformer load, as lighting systems often expand over time. A transformer that was properly sized when the system was first installed can become overloaded as additional fixtures are added.
Most maintenance issues and repairs on Westchester homes are simple and can be taken care of in one visit with tools and equipment our expert technicians have with them on every job.

Professional landscape lighting, however, provides value through thoughtful design, high-quality components built to withstand the elements, and properly installed connections designed for long-term reliability. A professionally designed system should not only look beautiful at night but also function reliably for years to come. Our goal is to create lighting that enhances the character of your home and landscape while making your outdoor spaces more enjoyable and usable after dark.
What is the rule of thumb for outdoor lighting?
Effective lighting is about balance, contrast, and knowing what not to illuminate as well as what to illuminate.
Do you need an electrician to install landscape lighting?
The low-voltage portion of the system does not require a licensed electrician. Once power passes through the transformer, the landscape lighting operates at approximately 12 volts. If a new exterior GFCI circuit is needed to power the transformer, that portion of the work must be completed by a licensed electrician. Many Westchester properties already have a suitable exterior outlet available, and when one is not present, we take care of it as part of the project.
